The College Football Champion Index makes a respectable showing this week. Here’s how each of the currently publishing computer polls and the CFCI fare against the benchmark A.P. Top 25.

The CFCI narrowly misses ranking Oklahoma State and South Carolina in the Top 25 having each at 27 & 28 respectively.
The top end is starting to shape up. Alabama and Oregon rank mathematically at 3 & 4. Although AP No. 3 Clemson comes in at 9th in the CFCI, A.P. No. 4 Ohio State ranks No. 6 in the CFCI.
In a bit of synchronicity, the Index and A.P. rank Louisville (8), UCLA (11), and Va. Tech (24) the same. Another four teams are ranked within two spots in both rankings, Alabama, Oregon, Ohio St. and Washington.
For those seeing the CFCI for the first time, it is heavily defense-oriented as are BCS Champions.
