Arkansas Razorbacks 2014 Football Schedule

The Arkansas Razorbacks 2014 Football Schedule has been posted on ArkansasRazorbacks.com.

Wow, Arkansas opens 2014 against SEC opponent Auburn!  The Hogs have never played any SEC team in August. Going back further, the Hogs never played any Southwest Conference opponent in August either. The Hogs faced SEC opponents in the second game of the season on a number of occasions particularly at the beginning of the Razorbacks’ entry into the SEC. However, the Hogs have never faced an SEC Conference opponent to begin the season. Before entry into the SEC, the Hogs played Ole Miss in the first game of the season during the 1980’s and Vanderbilt to open the 1978 season.

This will be only the third time in Razorback history where the Hogs opened against a conference opponent dating back to the University of Arkansas’ conference affiliation with the Southwest Conference in 1925. On September 1, 1980, the Razorbacks opened the season against conference opponent Texas in a nationally televised game on ABC and suffered a 23-17 loss. The Razorbacks opened up the 1958 season on September 20, 1958, with a 12-0 loss to the Baylor Bears.

Two weeks later the Hogs get their fill of old SWC opponent Texas Tech in Lubbock… the Starkville of the old SWC, before continuing SEC play with Texas A&M, Alabama, and Georgia in succession.  Arkansas does have a bye week before Alabama (cue Nick Saban’s bye-week complaints.)

After playing Garrett McGee’s team, UAB, the Hogs face Mississippi State, LSU, Ole Miss and Missouri to finish out the season.

The Razorbacks will face five opponents on the road and seven at home.
