Just when you thought football recruiting was over. Davonte Neal won’t announce his plans to attend school until February 21, 2012, from Scottsdale, Arizona, but word out of Arizona is that he’s firmly narrowed his choices and won’t consider other schools.
Richard Obert of AZCentral.com reported last night that University of Florida called for Davonte after losing highly touted Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs to Maryland on Friday. Reportedly, Luke Neal, Davonte’s father, said that Davonte remains firm with the four schools remaining in Davonte’s sites: Arizona, Arkansas, North Carolina and Notre Dame. In other words…See ya’ later Gator!
Davonte stands about 5’10” tall and weighs in the 175 lbs. range with a 4.4 – 4.5 forty time. Depending upon the outlet he’s listed varyingly as a Wide Receiver and Athlete. All consider him one of the top recruits in the State of Arizona. Rivals ranks him 107th nationally with a 5.9 rating, while Scout.com places him as the #5 Wide Receiver prospect in the country. ESPN thinks most highly of Davonte placing him as a five-star recruit and give him the No. 8 recruiting position overall while 247Sports ranks Davonte as a four-star athlete as the 53rd prospect overall in the country.
