Confirmed: Houston Nutt Fired

Following Ole Miss’ loss to Kentucky this weekend, preliminary reports point to Houston Nutt being fired. Houston Nutt holds the Ole Miss record for most losses in a row to SEC opponents. His streak currently sits at 12 losses. Ole Miss will be required to pay $6 Million to buyout Houston Nutt’s contract if they were to release him this year.

According to Red Cup Rebellion, Rebel Black Bear Ackbar administrators and boosters will decide today whether or not Houston Nutt will finish out the remainder of the season. If he is not going to stay, then they will decide upon an interim coach in his place. A final decision will be made on Monday.

Houston Nutt started out great at Ole Miss, leading them to a win over National Champions in the Florida Gators. He also led them to back-to-back Cotton Bowls wins. However, since then, results and recruiting have declined.

UPDATE 11/7: Nutt will stay for the final three games of the season. Once season is over he will “resign”. Ole Miss is holding a press conference to make announcement this afternoon at 2.
