SEC Power Poll Ballot, Week 1

I am proud to announce that I’ll be taking over the weekly SEC Power Poll balloting for Hog Database this season. Each week we’ll submit our vote along with a group of bloggers from around the SEC. This will be the third season Hog Database has been voting in the SEC Power Poll which is released each Wednesday by Team Speed Kills.

Here are our 1st week’s ballot.  Please let us know what you think by leaving a comment.

Week:   1   2   3   4   5   6   7   8   9

1. Alabama Crimson Tide

Trent Richardson provides the perfect punch for this stout Alabama defense to succeed.

Last Week:  Alabama 48 Kent St. 7

2. LSU Tigers

Tigers ran wild on the Oregon Ducks without starting QB George (Jordan) Jefferson.

Last Week: LSU 40 Oregon 27

3. Arkansas Razorbacks

Hogs return a stout defense to help their speedy offense succeed this year. Gave up only 18 yards in first half against Missouri St.

Last Week: Arkansas 51 Missouri St. 7

4. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Relf/Ballard combo makes the Bulldogs a terrible threat this year to any SEC team. Oline needs work.

Last Week: Mississippi St. 59 Memphis 14

5. South Carolina Gamecocks

Lattimore can’t do it all by himself. Gamecock Defense has to step up as SC trailed ECU going into halftime.

Last Week:  South Carolina 56 East Carolina 37

6. Florida Gators

Gators are turning around behind Will Muschamp. Look for a great rebuilding year.

Last Week: Florida 41 Florida Atlantic 3

7. Georgia Bulldogs

It is now or never for Mark Richt. He only has a few more seasons under the hot seat before being fired.

Last Week: Georgia 21 Boise St. 35

8. Auburn Tigers

After returning only 6 starters, Auburn looks miserable. An entirely new Oline provides a rocky start for the Tigers.

Last Week: Auburn 42 Utah St. 38

9. Tennessee Volunteers

Tennessee looks to rock again this year. However, lack of returning defensive starters will not please Vol fans.

Last Week: Tennessee 42 Montana 16

10. Kentucky Wildcats

Joker Phillips looks to return Kentucky to a bowl game again this year. Strength at top of SEC may prevent this from happening.

Last Week: Kentucky 14 Western Kentucky 3

11. Ole Miss Rebel Black Bear Ackbars

Ole Miss has been in a decline since Houston Nutt took over the team. Expecting more of the same.

Last Week: Ole Miss 13 BYU 14

12. Vanderbilt Commodores

Vanderbilt will look to a new coach once again. The academic capital of the SEC is still no match for the athletics of SEC.

Last Week: Vanderbilt 45 Elon 14
