After numerous rumors over the last couple of years, Rotnei Clarke has finally been granted his release from the University of Arkansas basketball program.
“I wish Rotnei Clarke the best as he moves on,” Arkansas head men’s basketball coach Mike Anderson said. “Shortly after I arrived, I met with him and was given every indication that he wanted to be a part of our program moving forward. Recently, Rotnei informed me of his intent to leave the University of Arkansas. At that time, I informed him that he would need to speak with the athletic director regarding his request. I then recommended to Jeff Long that we grant him a release to allow him to speak to other schools.”
After three years with Arkansas, Clarke averaged 15.2 PPG with a .438 3PT Percentage. He will be a senior this year. He is immediately eligible for a Division II team, but must sit out at least a year for any Division I basketball program.
In order to play at a Division I school, Rotnei must take a Redshirt next year in order to play his final season of college basketball.
