FYI: No, I’m not suggesting that Ryan Mallett would actually place a bet on College Football. Save the comments…
Ryan Mallett was a guest on College Football Live with John Saunders Wednesday afternoon and made a prediction Arkansas fans aren’t accustomed to hearing from a Razorback player.
Saunders was leading Mallett towards a Heisman Trophy sound bite, but The Razorback Quarterback quickly changed the subject to a trophy presentation that, in all honesty, hasn’t been discussed in Arkansas in quite some time. He let it be perfectly known that the goal he has his eye on this season is bringing a BCS Championship to Arkansas.
“That’d be a great honor. The trophy I’m more worried about is that crystal ball you get to hold up at the end of the year. That’s what we’re worried about in Fayetteville,” Mallett said.
A few months ago Vegas released NCAA Football Odds for the 2010 season BCS Champion. The Razorbacks and Georgia were both given 30-1 odds, good for 3rd best in the SEC. Alabama is #1 overall at 7-2 and Florida was given 16-1 odds. –source.
Ryan’s comments shouldn’t come as too big of a shock to Hog fans, he did tell us to “Get Ready“ back in January, but fell short of guaranteeing a trip to Atlanta or picking a bowl then.
Although a few national reporters have made Arkansas their “dark horse” pick for 2010, Saunders seem too sure about the idea. He politely chuckled and replied, “If you’re holding it up, I’ll be standing right beside you.” Saunders is part of the ESPN crew that will be covering the 2011 BCS Championship game.
“Let’s set a date then,” Mallett said.
I don’t know about you, but I’m keeping January 10, 2011 clear – Just in case. I imagine Arizona will be nice in January.
